DTM Legal recently welcomed HR professionals and business leaders for an insightful and engaging event focused on Managing Neurodiversity in the Workplace.

The session was held at 4 St Paul’s Square, home of DTM Legal’s Liverpool office, and formed part of the firm’s ongoing North West HR Group programme, a network dedicated to supporting employment law professionals across the region through quarterly legal updates, in-person networking opportunities and practical insight events.

Insightful Perspectives on Neurodiversity at Work

The event brought together legal expertise and lived experience to provide attendees with a well-rounded understanding of neurodiversity in the modern workplace.

Guest speaker Snoof  Kattekop delivered a powerful and informative session, sharing personal insights into living with neurodiversity. The discussion explored:

  • The realities and strengths associated with neurodivergent thinking

  • Common challenges faced in workplace environments

  • Practical steps employers can take to create more inclusive and supportive cultures

The session provided a valuable perspective on how greater awareness and understanding can unlock talent and improve employee wellbeing.

Legal Considerations and Reasonable Adjustments

Tom Evans, Head of Employment at DTM Legal complemented these insights with a clear overview of the legal framework surrounding neurodiversity and employment law. His presentation covered:

  • When neurodiversity may meet the legal definition of disability

  • Employers’ obligations under the Equality Act 2010

  • The process of identifying and implementing reasonable adjustments
