Sophie Greensill is an Associate Solicitor at DTM Legal, in the Property Litigation Team. She has 12 years of experience in property litigation, with wide-ranging and extensive experience across commercial and residential property matters. She has also gained an overview of environmental and planning law, in the context of property disputes, whilst working in house for a national charity.
Sophie is a graduate of the University of Liverpool. She spent a number of years in finance before deciding to pursue a career in law. She undertook her solicitors’ exams during 2022, and qualified as a solicitor in 2023.
Sophie is a key member of the property litigation team, giving commercially savvy advice and guiding her clients, always with a view to resolving disputes at an early stage. Sophie advises on all property related disputes, including commercial property and lease issues, nuisance, residential ownership disputes, rights of way, title issues and possession claim matters; as well as work encompassing other areas, for example contentious probate matters involving property and trusts, ToLATA claims, planning disputes, matters with an environmental law aspect, and farm partnership disputes involving property.
Sophie has acted for well-known retail clients and large estate owners in Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 lease disputes, and is comfortable dealing with matters from either landlord or tenant side.
Sophie has, prior to joining DTM, spent time working in-house for a national charity which owns a significant amount of real estate throughout England and Wales; and as such has gained invaluable experience in a commercial yet budget-conscious environment, assisting on large and high value projects and advising at executive level. The nature of the organisation means she has niche experience in law involving waterways and other inland bodies of water, including adverse possession, easements and complex ownership discrepancy issues.
Sophie is a member of the Property Litigation Association. In addition to her legal career, Sophie spent the last few years as a school governor, and was a member of a project group which facilitated the federation of the school with another local school, using her knowledge and experience to assist with the formal legal process.
In her free time, Sophie enjoys a quiet life, spending time with her family and two cats, is a keen gardener, and loves bike rides, walks, reading, theatre and the arts.
