James joined DTM Legal in September 2022 as a Paralegal in the Property Litigation team and is now undertaking his Training Contract with the firm. He has completed seats in both Commercial Property and Dispute Resolution, where he gained experience in a variety of transactional and contentious matters including landlord and tenant disputes, debt recovery, boundary issues, and commercial lease work.
James is currently sitting in the Employment and HR team, assisting with employment tribunal claims, disciplinary and grievance processes, absence management, TUPE matters, and the drafting and review of employment contracts and HR policies.
James graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with First Class Honours in Law and went on to achieve a Distinction in the LPC LLM. He has a strong academic interest in sports law. His undergraduate dissertation analysed the regulation of football both domestically and at the European level, with a focus on the aftermath of the European Super League proposals. At master’s level, James further explored the compatibility of the European Model of Sport with EU Competition Law.
He also gained practical experience in the field through a legal internship at Liverpool Football Club, where he worked on a range of commercial and intellectual property matters.
In his spare time James enjoys watching football and has the misfortune of being a Manchester United supporter living and working in Liverpool.
