Guy is a dual qualified Chartered Civil Engineer and Solicitor specialising in contentious and non-contentious construction and engineering law having worked within the construction industry on major civil engineering projects in the UK and Hong Kong.
What is your proudest achievement in business?
Hong Kong MTR train station, started off as land being reclaimed from Hong Kong Harbour and two years later completed ready to receive passengers from the then new Chep Lap Kok Airport.
Who would you most like to have a coffee with?
My dad, he died far too young from diabetes related issues having suffered from type 1 diabetes from the age of 8.
Do you dress up or down for business?
Down in the office and up when with clients or attending meetings. Those that know me know I can dress down, but thanks to some at DTM I have discovered a new, more relaxed limit

What do you always have with you?
My Garmin 735xt watch. It monitors a whole host of activities and performance related parameters – all very interesting.
What time of the day are you most inspired?
Usually the morning and the weekend, especially this time of year when I am in the garden working out what next to grow, or build, or repair.
If you hadn’t gone down your chosen career path, what would you be doing?
Not sure I am smart enough but I have to say it would be a Doctor of some description. The NHS is fantastic as is everyone working in it, we should not beat it up.
How do you relax outside of work.
Run, cycle, rowing (Concept2). Each year a number of us row and raise funds for Sport or Comic Relief. This year we are rowing 1,000,000 meters for Clatterbidge Cancer hospital, so if you feel minded to sponsor us let me know.
In relation to construction, which area of Liverpool do you see booming in the next 5 years?
Baltic Triangle.
What key things do you think have changed within the construction industry since the collapse of Carillion?
Everyone is that more aware of the antics some take with their supply chain. Trouble is, what Carillion were up to has been going on for years. Will it change, I very much doubt it. Should it change, of course. Let’s see whether the duty to report on their payment practices, policies and performance under the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015, in force since April 2017, changes things.
