James is a Solicitor in our Property Litigation team, based in our Liverpool office.

James supports clients on a range of contentious property matters, including landlord and tenant disputes, dilapidations, boundary issues, and disputes arising from commercial lease arrangements. He takes a practical, client-focused approach and works closely with colleagues to help clients achieve clear, commercially sensible outcomes.

James joined DTM Legal in 2022 as a Paralegal in the Property Litigation team and has since trained with the firm, qualifying as a Solicitor in Property Litigation in 2026.
During his Training Contract, James completed seats in Commercial Property, Dispute Resolution, and Employment & HR, gaining a strong foundation across both transactional and contentious work. This has included supporting clients on a range of Commercial Property, Dispute Resolution and Employment & HR matters, from assisting with property and contractual disputes and related documentation through to employment tribunal claims, TUPE, and day-to-day HR advisory work.

James graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with First Class Honours in Law and went on to achieve a Distinction in the LPC LLM. He has a strong academic interest in sports law. His undergraduate dissertation analysed the regulation of football both domestically and at the European level, with a focus on the aftermath of the European Super League proposals. At master’s level, James further explored the compatibility of the European Model of Sport with EU Competition Law.

He also gained practical experience in the field through a legal internship at Liverpool Football Club, where he worked on a range of commercial and intellectual property matters.

In his spare time, James enjoys watching football and has the misfortune of being a Manchester United supporter living and working in Liverpool.
