Emily O’Donnell joins DTM Legal’s Trusts and Estates department.
Emily brings a wealth of experience to DTM Legal including advising clients on complex succession planning issues such as: advising on the creation of lifetime trusts as asset holding structures; the use of trusts in Wills for inheritance tax mitigation and asset protection purposes, advising on the ongoing administration of trusts as a means of protecting wealth for future generations; advising on suitable structures for charitable activities including leaving charitable legacies in Wills; and Tax planning, including the application of agricultural property relief, business property relief, entrepreneur’s relief and tax reliefs relating to heritage property.
Prior to joining DTM, Emily worked for a large international law firm as an associate in their Landed Estates team advising owners of historic houses and estates on inheritance tax mitigation and capital gains tax planning to ensure the smooth handover to successive generations of the family. Emily has interest in and expertise of advising on cultural assets including the conditional exemption for heritage property, the assets in lieu scheme and cultural gifts scheme.
