Legal 500 Top Tier Firm 2024
Solicitors in Chester and Liverpool

DTM Legal is founded on three main principles:  Trusted Partner, Legal Excellence and Outstanding Service. These values echo throughout the company through our care and service to our clients, through our people and through our commitment and support to the wider community.

We are passionate about the work we do and we value the people we work with. We care too about our impact and want to make a positive impact on our community.

Charitable Giving

Every year DTM Legal select a dedicated charity which is nominated and voted on by our team. For the last 5 years our dedicated charities have included Zoe’s Place, Alder Hey Children’s Hospice, Claire House Hospice, Wirral MIND, and Nightingale House Hospice. We support the charities through numerous activities from trail running, tombolas, quizzes, cycling, abseiling challenges, dragon boat racing and a ‘build a balloon’ project with Nightingale House Hospice, a charity providing specialist palliative care services to patients and their families across the region. The project will help promote their services across the community.

In addition to this we also support our colleagues and clients with their individual charities of choice from providing food or clothes for Helpfinder, organise sporting dinners for the Lord’s Taverners, donate to The Trussell Trust, cake sales for Breast Cancer, sponsorship of activities for Inspire Young People’s, fundraise for MacMillan Cancer Support, World Literacy Foundation, Duchenne Cycle Ride, Ukraine Appeal, Chester Action for the Homeless, Helpfinder Foodbank, Zoe’s Place, UCKG and many more.

This year we have pledged support two charities

Nightingale House Hospice, a charity providing specialist palliative care services to patients and their families across the region. The Build a Balloon project will help promote their services to across the community.

North West Cancer Research, The regions leading cancer charity. They are dedicated to pioneering research and education to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer. You can view our current fundraising page by visiting JustGiving.

Pro Bono and Local Community Impact

We are committed to supporting the next generation through our support to programmes such as Placed Academy teaching 15- 18 year olds the wide scope of the Built Environment in Liverpool Region. In addition, our partners volunteer and support both University of Liverpool through a student mentoring programme and University of Chester through student lecturing and webinars.

Our team also share their knowledge and experience in many local community projects. Our team work on a pro bono basis for charities, advising on a Board of Trustees for schools and associations, volunteer free legal advice clinics and much more. They include organisations such as the Cheshire Connect, Blacon School, Cheshire Academies Trust, Baltic Creative to name a few. Our skills and resources of the firm have a far reaching impact and benefit to a wide number of charities and associations.

Sustainability and caring for our environment

We aim to be as environmentally and socially responsible as we can. Minimising our footprint on the environment is really important to DTM Legal. We review our energy usage,  and  we look for innovative ideas to improve efficiencies whether digital or physical, recycling within our office and cycle to work schemes. We educate our staff on ways to minimise our carbon footprint and are happy to implement initiatives such as ‘paperless’ systems where possible. Our new case management system has also allowed us to make firm wide improvements in storing data and managing files.

We work closely with our suppliers and ensure that they are working with an ethical and  environmental framework that aims to improve sustainability. Over the next few months we will be planting trees across our region. We will be working with The Woodland Trust to reinstate the Mersey Forest, Nightingale House Hospice to help them plant new hedges and gardens for the patients and carers and hopefully many more projects.

Wellbeing of our people

Our people are our greatest asset. Looking after our people to ensure they are fit and healthy, both mentally and physically is key for our business and gives everyone a chance to achieve their potential. We are committed to the wellbeing including ethical and fair treatment of our team by:

  • Creating a safe and supportive environment
  • Providing regular improvements in our office environment and working conditions
  • Regular review of our approach to recruitment
  • Providing Health and safety support including mental health first aiders
  • Training to enhance all aspects of our skills and processes
  • Health benefits such as Medicash for our employees
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Providing family days

We listen and learn about best practices and implement them across both offices and team.

In order to provide the highest standard of work for our clients, we recruit the best people for the job, regardless of age, gender, ethnic origin, or other similar factors. We strive to provide an environment that is culturally diverse and where everyone feels comfortable, respected, confident and equal. We are developing our Corporate Social Responsibility further and happy to discuss our commitments in more detail. Please contact Alison Brennan or Richard Harris if you have any questions.
