Matilda Hawkins, known as Tilly, is a Paralegal in DTM Legal’s Commercial Property team, working primarily alongside Stephen Yardley.
Having worked in the legal sector for around a year, Tilly has developed experience across a range of Commercial Property matters, alongside previous experience in Corporate work. She is keen to continue developing her knowledge and experience as she works towards progressing her legal career and qualification.
Role within DTM Legal
Tilly supports the Commercial Property team across a broad range of transactions, assisting with both legal and administrative aspects of matters.
A particular focus of her role is post-completion work, including dealing with Land Registry applications and requisitions. She also assists with routine legal drafting, client onboarding, managing transaction deadlines and liaising with clients where further information or consent is required.
Alongside this, Tilly assists with transactional work and legal research, including reviewing Land Registry practice guides and other relevant guidance to support the team.
Tilly enjoys getting involved in different areas of work and developing a broad range of experience. Her focus is on continuing to challenge herself, take on new opportunities and build the knowledge and practical skills needed to progress her legal career.
Education and Training
Tilly studied A Levels in Economics, Business and Geography, alongside an AS Level in Mathematics and an Extended Project Qualification.
She also completed a year at The University of Law in Manchester as part of its Solicitor Apprenticeship programme.
ESG and Community Involvement
Tilly has previously been involved with Social Shifters’ Global Innovation Challenge, taking part in judging and coaching.
As part of the programme, she worked with a business developing self-sustaining machines designed to convert landfill waste into biochar, with the project supporting local communities and agricultural sustainability in Sri Lanka.
Tilly is keen to continue building on this experience and become involved in further ESG and community-focused initiatives.
Outside of Work
Outside of the office, much of Tilly’s spare time revolves around hockey. She plays as a goalkeeper and is also involved in coaching and umpiring, as well as supporting her friends and teammates from the sidelines.
When she gets the opportunity to step away from the hockey pitch, Tilly also enjoys hiking and a pub lunch with her dad.
