Krystyn is a Legal Director within the commercial property team at DTM Legal. Krystyn brings a wealth of experience spanning almost 12 years advising a varied client base comprising a mix of individuals, private companies, pension funds, financial institutions, public bodies and charities across a range of sectors and industries including, but not limited to, retail, leisure, finance and investment, ecclesiastical and transport and logistics.
Education and training
Krystyn graduated from the University of Liverpool with a First Class L.L.B degree before completing her Legal Practice Course (with Distinction) at BPP Law School. Before joining DTM Legal, Krystyn worked with a global law firm, having started at that firm as a paralegal before commencing her training contract and qualifying at the firm.
Whilst Krystyn’s main specialism is commercial property, she is also highly experienced in representing clients on residential matters and holds the CQS accreditation to do so. This qualification sets Krystyn apart in that she is well-positioned to advise clients whose portfolios contain a mix of commercial and residential assets.
Role within DTM Legal
Krystyn plays an important role within DTM Legal’s Commercial Property (and wider Residential Conveyancing) teams. Her diverse practice covers every aspect of the transactional property life-cycle, and she is experienced in representing clients on all real estate matters including sales, acquisitions, asset management, landlord and tenant, real estate finance, development pre-let arrangements, options and pre-emption agreements.
Krystyn prides herself on understanding the key drivers for her clients and being focused on achieving the best practical outcome for her clients. She does this by being pragmatic and well-versed in understanding the objectives of each party in a transaction in order to facilitate a more efficient resolution of any sticking points/issues.
Krystyn places great importance on ensuring her legal advice is accessible and easy to understand by placing a huge focus on seeking to demystify legal jargon and legal processes as much as possible. She is therefore extremely adept at tailoring her advice to her ranging client base and being able to break down complex processes or provisions in a user- friendly, comprehensible manner. She prides herself on being personable, friendly and determined to deliver work and advice of the highest quality.
Krystyn is also very detail-focused and takes great satisfaction in using her problem-solving skills and attention to detail to decipher a complex transaction so that a deal can be unlocked and progressed to completion.
Krystyn’s extensive experience acting on high-value, time-sensitive transactions also means that she is highly organised, capable of working within tight timescales and spinning several plates simultaneously.
Krystyn is extremely passionate about helping to mentor and mould the next generation of lawyers/legal professionals and takes a great interest in assisting in the personal and professional development of more junior members of the team by regularly investing time to enhance their knowledge, experience and confidence.
Career Highlights
A particular work highlight of Krystyn’s was her recent involvement on a complex, multi-million-pound rolling credit facility for a corporate borrower client which involved circa 130 properties (a mix of residential and commercial) and required cross-collaboration with banking colleagues and offering pragmatic condition subsequent solutions so that the transaction could complete.
I strive to be pragmatic and solutions-focused and to deliver easy to understand legal advice. Communication is at the heart of everything I do; updating clients and intermediaries regularly imbues trust and I strive to gain that trust from each client.
Personal interests
Outside of work, Krystyn enjoys spending time with her husband and soaking up as much time as she can with her two young girls. Krystyn also loves to read, listen to music, visit family and friends and the occasional evening binge-watching programmes – she’s currently most of the way through Greys Anatomy!
