On Sunday 13th September, five of our athletic colleagues took part in the Wirral Half Marathon/10k in support of our chosen charity; Wirral Hospice St John’s.
The Team – Before the 10K
It was a glorious Indian summer’s day and our fab five smashed their estimated times, with Alison Brennan breaking her PB on the amazing, flat course.
Dejene Gezimu of Liverpool Harriers AC romped the 10k in an impressive time of 30:58 and our very own Ed Barnes was not too far behind him with a time of 45:42. Alison Brennan was the next of the fab five to pass the finish line with a time of 52:30 and Richard Thomas was close on her heels with a mere three seconds between them, they were almost neck and neck.
Anna Duffy was the next person to cross the finish line with a time of 55:35 but the star of the day was Victoria Evans who obliterated her estimated time of 1 hour 30 minutes by crossing the finish line with a time of 01:01:56 and you can see from the picture of them all afterwards, she doesn’t look the slightest bit fazed – however her legs are a little sore today!

Richard Thomas – Estimated time 55 minutes, Time completed 52 minutes 33 seconds
Victoria Evans – Estimated time 1 hour 30 minutes, Time completed 1 hour, 1 minute and 56 seconds
The team raised an admirable £825 for the 10K; bringing our total amount raised so far for Wirral Hospice St John’s to £1,740 in just 6 months. This is a fantastic achievement but we don’t want to stop there – we want to raise more for this very worthy cause!
