PROVISIONAL WORLD TREE-HUGGING RECORD SET IN DELAMERE FOREST

DTM Legal would like to say a massive `thank you’ to everyone who joined us last Sunday to help set a Guinness World Record – subject to verification.

You don’t get to do something like this every day and DTM were proud to have helped with the organisation on the day. Over 700 people hugged trees simultaneously, for over one minute, which could well become the new world record.

People travelled from across the UK, with one hugger coming all the way from Brighton, plus lots of local people from Cheshire who know and love Delamere Forest showed their support. The event was organised to raise awareness of our woodland heritage and give people the chance to say `we love our trees.’

Seven year old Katy Holding, who hugged a tree with her Grandmother, told the Guardian newspaper that she couldn’t quite get her arms around her tree, but still held on for the full minute. Good work Katy!

The previous record stood at just 250 huggers, so if the provisional total of 707 on the day is ratified by the Guinness Records organisation, then everyone can give themselves a little cheer. We believe the decision on the record should be made in the next few days. As soon as we know, we will post the news on our DTM Legal blog.

Thanks again everyone.
