St Helens played Warrington Wolves last Friday night as the curtain raiser to their “Year on the Road” – playing home games at the impressive Stobart Stadium, Widnes whilst they patiently wait for completion of their magnificent new home. The DTM team (and distinguished guests) were there to offer their support.
An attendance of well over 10,000, despite the wet & windy conditions, created a great atmosphere and it was the Wolves that appeared motivated by the support, running in three first half tries and defending resolutely to go in 0 – 18 up at half time.
The second half started much the same and the Wolves added another before Saints mounted a late charge and scored three tries to give some respectability to the scoreline, finishing 18 – 25. It was however a classic example of too little, too late.
All was not lost for the DTM party who took full advantage of the fantastic pre and post match hospitality and may have still been there on Saturday morning had they not been politely asked to leave. Thanks to all of our guests, all the staff at the stadium and the Saints marketing team for making the night one which we will no doubt be repeating soon.
Watch this space as DTM will soon be announcing details of its new St Helens office….
